New Board for 2009/2010 Season-Spots Still Need To Be Filled May 8, 2009: The following are the positions for the 2009/2010 season. We are need for parents to step up and fill all of these board positions. The various activities that support the players and coaches just don't happen on their own. For example, if the Youth Coordinator position isn't filled there won't be a youth program next year. The number of parents volunteering (especially at the 10th grade level and below) has dropped off dramatically. The board positions only take a few hours a month to make happen. The real work is done at the committee head level.
Oakland Catholic Game Rescheduled May 7, 2009: The Oakland Catholic game rescheduled for May 8th. Same times and location.
MS Lady Raiders Top Pine Richland April 29, 2009: The MS Lady Raiders defeated Pine Richland 12-10 today to take their record to 9-1.

Varsity Lose in Double Overtime to Fox Chapel April 24, 2009: The JV started the night out with another win. The Varsity took on Fox Chapel and played their best game of the season. With Fox Chapel in first place in the section, the Lady Raiders traded the lead with them throughout the game. The score was tied at the end of regulation and after the first overtime. The Lady Raiders fought hard, but Fox Chapel scored early in the second overtime. The girls played well and are still able to make the playoffs this year.
Middle School Drops First Game to Hampton April 24, 2009: The MS girls fought hard with limited substitute players, but fell to Hampton 10-9 in their first lose of the season.
Playing Left Handed and Wall Ball Information Being able to play left handed as well as right handed will make you a better and more dominate player. Youth and Middle School players should start to develop their off-hand as early as possible. Learning how to pass, catch, and shoot with both hands at a young age is more important than winning. Do these on your own with wall ball drills. Here are some web links to help (may take a few seconds to load).
Youth Team Gaining Important Experience April 24, 2009: The Youth Team has been gaining valuable experience in their first season of play. They have been playing other local programs who have been around longer and have been holding their own. The most important thing for the Youth Team, besides having fun, is to develop stick skills and team basics. Keep up the good work. It will payoff in the future.
Varsity and JV Defeat Shaler April 23, 2009: Both the Varsity and JV defeated Shaler tonight in a non-section game. The Varsity came back from a two goal deficit in the second half to win 7-6. The JV continue their unbeaten ways. The Lady Raiders have three section games next week as they battle for a playoff spot.

The game against PYL was touch and go for much of the game with PYL being a head most of the game but the girls moved ahead in the last few minutes of the game to clinch another win. Middle School remains undefeated.
Varsity Beats North Allegheny April 16, 2009: The Varsity battled hard for a section win over North Allegheny. After going into halftime tied at 4-4, the Lady Raiders fought with good offensive ball control, transition, defense, and goal tending to win 8-6. The team played their best game of the season. The JV continued to play well with another win over NA.
Middle School Tops North Allegheny April 15, 2009: With a short handed roster, the MS Lady Raiders were still able to defeat North Allegheny. This was a big win for them as the MS only had 1 substitute as there were a number girls missing due to confirmation or injuries. This was a total team effort to achieve an early lead and then hold it throughout the entire night.

Varsity Loses to Pine Richland April 2, 2009: The JV opened the night with a hard fought win over Pine Richland 4-3. The Varsity started the game with a quick 2-0 lead after winning the first two faceoffs of the game. Pine Richland quickly recovered by winning most of the faceoffs, transitioning by passing, and controlling the ball in their offensive end for most of the game. The Lady Raiders made a comeback from a 5 goal deficit, tying the score in the second half by relying on fast breaks to score. With less than two minutes in the game, Pine Richland went up 14-13 and won the game.

The Varsity and JV open section play in a new section against Oakland Catholic next week.

Booster Fees All Varsity, JV, and Middle School players need to turn in the $75 booster fee to their team parent by Friday, March 20th. Per school rules this is not mandatory, but it is important for providing each player a meal prior to each away game and paying for each player's banquet costs. Team parents for the Varsity and JV are Carol Fronzaglio and Sherry Puskar. For the Middle School the team parent is Mary Sonson.
Concession Stand Information The concession stand will be open for the first SV Girls' Lacrosse home scrimmage on Wednesday, March 18th against Upper St. Clair. The stand will be run as in the past with two JV parents working the Varsity game and two Varsity parents working the JV game. (See schedule)There are a few instances where you might find your name twice. Thank you in advance for your extra contribution. If you cannot work your assigned game, you must find your own sub or switch with another parent, and then let me know of any changes.
When you are scheduled to work, each parent needs to bring either a hot food/dish which will be sold at the concession stand. Some suggestions for cold weather games are chili, pierogies, soup, kielbasa, hot sausage or ham bbq, anything that would be satisfying on a chilly or downright frigid afternoon. As it gets warmer, walking tacos, hoagies, or pre-grilled hamburgers are great. If you choose to bring a dessert, most anything will go over well. Please e-mail Jen Semel with what you plan to bring--last year we had double ham bbq on several occasions.
Please see the donation list for Gatorade and Pepsi products. Each high school girl is asked to donate 2 cubes (48 total cans) of an assigned Pepsi product or 1 case (24 bottles) of 20 oz. Gatorade (to be sold at the concession stand or for the girls to have during games.) Please refer to the list as to your assigned donation. Bring your drinks marked with your name to the concession stand on March 18th during or prior to the game.
Photo Days Scheduled The photo days are March 23-Middle School and March 24-V/JV. Teams have games on these days, so pictures will be taken prior to the games.
